Stop & Go Car Care Careers
DIRECTOR OF MULTI-LOCATION AUTOMOTIVE OPERATIONS
I’m Looking for the Other Half of My Professional Soul
This is probably not the employment page I am supposed to write.
I am supposed to describe this position using polished corporate language about performance, optimization, and synergy. But that would not tell you who I am, what this company means to me, or who I am truly hoping to find.
The truth is that I have spent years searching for a very specific person.
I am looking for an experienced automotive leader capable of carrying a company beside me—not underneath me, not behind me, and not while waiting for me to make every decision.
I am looking for the other half of my professional soul.
Stop & Go Car Care
MORE THAN FIVE DECADES IN THE MAKING
Stop & Go Car Care—Home of Brakes For Less—is a family-built automotive company with more than five decades of history behind it.
I was raised in this business. Long before I understood the words entrepreneurship, ownership, or leadership, my parents were teaching me what they meant.
They taught me that customers remember how you treat them. They taught me that leadership requires responsibility. They taught me that a business can support generations of families—but only when somebody cares enough to protect it.
Today, we operate across Louisiana, Alabama, and South Carolina. We are strengthening our systems, developing our people, expanding our marketing platform, and preparing the company for its next chapter.
Our long-term vision is to grow to 75 locations over the next five years through strong company operations and carefully developed franchise owners.
Leadership profile
THE PERSON I NEED BESIDE ME
I am not looking for someone who simply follows instructions well.
I need someone who sees what needs to happen, understands why it matters, develops the plan, leads the people, and makes certain it gets done.
You should have at least 10 years of substantial automotive management experience. Ideally, you have led multiple stores, a district, a region, or a large and complex automotive operation.
You should understand:
- Automotive sales and customer communication
- Store workflow and production
- Labor management and technician productivity
- Parts purchasing, margins, inventory, credits, and returns
- Recruiting, training, and retaining employees
- Developing service advisors and store managers
- Customer experience and reputation management
- Financial performance and operational discipline
- Multi-location accountability
- Full-service automotive operations
Our facilities provide brakes, maintenance, oil changes, tires, A/C service, steering, suspension, alignments, diagnostics, and other automotive repairs.
You do not necessarily have to be the person turning every wrench.
But you must understand the business, and you must know how to lead the people who do.
Operational judgment
YOU CAN IDENTIFY THE REAL PROBLEM
An exceptional operator understands that the most visible problem is not always the actual problem.
You know the difference between:
- A traffic problem and a sales problem
- A staffing problem and a leadership problem
- A difficult week and a broken operating process
- An employee who needs coaching and one who refuses accountability
- An honest mistake and a destructive pattern
- A manager who is overwhelmed and one who has stopped leading
You do not merely patch the immediate problem and wait for it to return.
You investigate it, understand it, correct it, and build a system that makes it less likely to happen again.
Director of Multi-Location Automotive Operations
WHAT YOU WILL HELP BUILD
As Director of Multi-Location Automotive Operations, you will work directly with ownership to strengthen the performance, leadership, and consistency of our locations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing store managers into confident, accountable leaders
- Establishing and protecting consistent operating standards
- Evaluating store performance and identifying the reasons behind the numbers
- Improving sales, workflow, productivity, customer experience, and profitability
- Recruiting and retaining strong automotive professionals
- Creating accountability without destroying morale
- Helping managers solve problems instead of continually solving problems for them
- Protecting quality, customer safety, and the company’s reputation
- Strengthening communication between ownership and individual locations
- Correcting operational problems before they become expensive emergencies
- Building systems capable of supporting future franchise growth
- Preparing the organization to scale without losing what made it worth building
You will have real responsibility.
That means you must also be prepared to accept real accountability.
Leadership philosophy
THE LEADERSHIP STANDARD
I believe leadership requires caring about other people more than you care about protecting your own comfort or ego.
That does not mean allowing poor performance.
It means telling people the truth, giving them the tools to improve, setting a clear standard, and holding them accountable with fairness and consistency.
You must be capable of having difficult conversations without humiliating people.
You must be able to develop employees instead of immediately discarding them.
You cannot be threatened by strong employees. Your responsibility is to build more leaders—not keep everyone dependent on you.
You must be willing to admit when you are wrong, change direction when the evidence demands it, and communicate problems before they become disasters.
I do not need the loudest person in the room.
I need the person everyone trusts when the room becomes difficult.
Partnership with ownership
WHAT I WILL BRING
I will bring vision, strategy, marketing, creativity, historical knowledge, and a lifetime of experience inside this company.
I will listen when you have evidence.
I will give you room to lead.
I will expect honesty, including when you disagree with me.
I will care deeply about the work, and I will expect you to care too.
I am not looking for someone to save me.
I am looking for someone strong enough to build beside me.
Long-term leadership
WHAT THIS COULD BECOME
This is not intended to be a temporary position or another stop on someone’s résumé.
For the right person, this can become one of the most important leadership roles in the company.
I am looking for someone capable of earning extraordinary trust, accepting meaningful responsibility, helping shape our future, and potentially building a path toward franchise ownership or another form of long-term participation in what we create.
That opportunity will not be automatically awarded because someone remained employed for a certain number of months.
It must be earned through leadership, judgment, integrity, performance, loyalty, and the ability to protect the company when ownership is not standing in the room.
I want to find someone capable of eventually owning part of what they help build.
The work ahead
THE HONEST PART
This company is not a finished masterpiece.
There are systems that need strengthening. There are employees who need development. There are locations that need stronger leadership and greater consistency. There are responsibilities that have been carried by too few people for too long.
You will encounter difficult situations.
You will meet talented people who need direction, exhausted people who need support, and occasionally people who have become extremely committed to avoiding the obvious.
Some days, the solution will be clear.
Other days, every available option may appear to be wearing clown shoes.
If you need perfect conditions before you can lead, this will not be the right position.
But if you are energized by the opportunity to build, improve, organize, teach, and create something that can outlive all of us, you may have finally found the work you were meant to do.
A clear fit
PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF
This will not be the right position for someone who:
- Needs to be chased for answers or results
- Wants authority without accepting responsibility
- Avoids difficult conversations until problems become catastrophes
- Believes accountability means yelling at employees
- Manipulates information to protect their image
- Blames every result on employees, customers, the economy, the weather, or the computer system
- Manages exclusively from an office
- Is threatened by talented employees
- Cannot admit when they are wrong
- Wants a comfortable management position with predictable days and limited personal investment
There are easier automotive management jobs.
This is not one of them.
The right fit
YOU MAY BE THE RIGHT PERSON IF
You may be the person I am looking for if:
- You have built, improved, or successfully turned around automotive operations
- You can translate numbers into specific operational actions
- You know how to develop managers instead of creating dependence
- You are commercially sharp but still deeply human
- You can protect standards without losing compassion
- You tell the truth even when it is uncomfortable
- You want your work to matter
- You have spent your career knowing you were capable of building something greater than the position someone gave you
Most importantly, you may be the right person if reading this has created the strange and uncomfortable feeling that I might be talking directly to you.
I am not searching for the most polished résumé.
I am searching for the right human being.
Maybe you have been looking for us, too.
