What's Your Car Trying to Tell You?
Cars communicate through sounds, sensations, and warning lights. If something feels off — a noise, a vibration, a smell, or a warning on the dash — this page can help you identify which system may deserve a closer look. We don't diagnose remotely. But we can help you understand what's worth bringing in.
My Brakes Are Making Noise
- —Squeaking or squealing
- —Grinding when braking
- —Clicking while braking
- —Vibration through the pedal
Brake noise can have several causes — some minor, some that deserve prompt attention. The sound alone doesn't tell the whole story.
My Car Is Pulling to One Side
- —Drifts right or left while driving
- —Requires constant steering correction
- —Pulls harder when braking
Pulling can involve tires, alignment, steering, suspension, or in some cases the braking system. The right starting point is an inspection.
My Steering Wheel Is Shaking
- —Vibration at highway speed
- —Shaking when braking
- —Wobble at certain speeds
Steering wheel vibration can involve tires, wheels, balance, steering components, or suspension. It's not always alignment.
My A/C Is Blowing Warm
- —Warm or hot air from vents
- —A/C not as cold as it used to be
- —Weak airflow
A/C problems can involve refrigerant, leaks, the compressor, condenser, electrical issues, or airflow. Adding refrigerant isn't always the answer.
My Car Clunks Over Bumps
- —Clunking or knocking over bumps
- —Rattling on rough roads
- —Noise when turning
Clunking can come from suspension components, steering parts, bushings, ball joints, struts, or other chassis components. The sound alone doesn't identify the source.
My Tires Are Wearing Unevenly
- —Worn on edges or center
- —Cupping or scalloping
- —One tire wearing faster than others
Uneven tire wear can involve alignment, tire pressure, suspension, or the tires themselves. The wear pattern can point toward the likely cause.
My Car Won't Start
- —Clicking when turning the key
- —Slow engine cranking
- —No response at all
A no-start condition can involve the battery, starter, alternator, connections, or other electrical components. The battery is a common cause — but not the only one.
My Car Is Overheating
- —Temperature gauge rising
- —Steam from under the hood
- —Warning light on
Overheating can involve coolant level, leaks, the thermostat, radiator, water pump, or cooling fans. Do not continue driving an overheating vehicle.
My Check Engine Light Is On
- —Solid check engine light
- —Flashing check engine light
- —Other warning lights on
Many different systems can trigger the check engine light. A code scan identifies which system set the code — it doesn't diagnose the repair.
